THE HEALING CIRCLE

A Practical Approach To

The Manifestation Of Christ

In Your life

"The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the brokenhearted to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovered of sight to the blind, to that liberty them that are bruised, to preach the acceptable year of the Lord." (Luke 4:18-19), Jesus read these words from Isaiah 61:1 at the beginning of His ministry as a testimony of the purpose of His life, and He faithfully lived out these words. later, under inspiration of the Holy Spirit, summarize the a of Christ in Ads 10:38, ''How am anointed Jesus of Nazareth w1|.1: the Holy Ghost and watts power: who went about doing got, and healing all tit were oppressed of the devil; for go was with hill's As a summation of Jesus' life, this seems to be a gross understatement. Most of us would write a more grandiose epitome. However, it reveals that the Holy Spirit considers "doing good" and "healing ALL that were oppressed of the devil" the greatest possible fulfillment of an earthly life.

In this present day, the Spirit of God is establishing the truth of the indwelling Christ. Many are rejoicing in this revelation. The same Spirit that was in Him is now in His people. John 14:17, "Even the spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. The same Spirit is now in both: the glorified Christ and his people upon earth. It is therefore correct to say I that Jesus Christ lives in His even though He is in heaven. He indwells His people through the same Holy Spirit that is in Him, creating a spiritual union. I Corinthians 6:17, "But he that is joined to the Lord is one spirit." The Holy Spirit is refers to as the Spirit of Christ, therefore, Christians are the earthly expression of His body. John 14:20, "At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in your’" Colossians 3:3-4, ''For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye appear with him in glory". I John 4:17, ". . . as he is, so are we in this world."

hall appear, then shall ye appear with him in glory". I John 4:17, ". . . as he is, so are we in this world."

The Unchangeable Christ

If the same Spirit is in the Christian that was in Christ when He was in the flesh, would He act differently and with different purpose in His people in the flesh today? There can be only one answer: He will do the same things through His multiple earthly body now as He did through His single earthly body then. Did He not say as much in John 14:12? ''Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my father." Jesus is the same yesterday, today and forever (Hebrews 13:8). Let us read again the words that Jesus read at the beginning of His ministry but this time, because of our union with Christ, read them as OUR commission and testimony.

Do we seriously believe that Christ is in us and is our true life -- seriously enough to act? James tells us that faith without action is a dead faith. All that God expects of us is faith -- faith that ACTS. He has provided everything else. Nothing is required of our natural ability. Remember, our sufficiency is not of ourselves, but of the One Who is in us. He has all power in heaven and earth and He has delegated His authority to us. WE act in Jesus' name! Matthew 18:18, ''Verily I say unto your whatsoever ye call bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye she loose on earth shall in loosed in heaven."

The Effectiveness of Jesus’ Blood

His blood has sanctified you and made you perfect and acceptable in the sight of God. Hebrews 10:10-17, ''By the which will we are inched through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all. And every priest standeth daily ministering and offering often times the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins: But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God; From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool. For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified. Whereof the Holy Ghost also is a witness to us: for after that he had said before, This is the covenant that I will make with them after those days, saith the Lord, I will put my laws into their hearts, and in their minds will I write them; And their sins and iniquities will I remember no more." So do not allow any condemnation or accusations from Satan. Your sins and failures are none of his business. You as not under law but under grace. Sin cannot be reckoned where there is no law. Romans 5:13, ''For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no 1aw.'' Romans 7:6, "But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter." Romans 1:15, "Because the law worketh wrath: for where no law is, there is no transgression." Romans 4:7-8, "Saying, blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins is covered. Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will not input sin."

Putting Action Into Faith

The blood of Christ makes us acceptable and the Spirit of Christ makes us able.

I Corinthians 3:6, "Who also hath made us able ministers of the new testament; not of the letter but of the spirit: for the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life." Only faith is necessary -- everything else comes from CHRIST IN US! Only the boldness of ACTIVE faith is our responsibility, and even this does not depend on our strength, for it too comes from the indwelling Christ. Galatians 2:20, "I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I LIVE BY THE FAITH OF THE SON OF GOD, who loved me, and gave himself for me."

All that is left is for us to ACT! A needy world is all around us, waiting for the healing touch of the Christ within us. The testimony of the Christ within us is still the same today as the testimony of Jesus when He walked the earth: "The Spirit of the Lord is upon ME, because he hath anointed ME to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent ME to heal the broken hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised, To preach the acceptable year of the Lord." This is embodied in the final commission Jesus gave his disciples in Mark 16:15, "And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." And again in Matthew 28:18-20, "And Jesus came and spake unto them saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost: Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the world (age). Amen." And with this commission He promised the same attendant miracles that He Himself wrought and gave to the 70 when He sent them forth to heal and deliver those oppressed: Mark 16:17-18, "And thee signs shall follow them that believe, In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover."

Reaching Out To All

Who is to be the recipient of such wonderful miracles? Is it only for a privileged few, or for a special people? Galatians 6:10, "As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto ALL MEN, especially unto them who are of the household of faith." It is the privilege (and duty) of Christians to release the power of Christ's life on behalf of ALL those who need help and are willing to receive it. Remember, the summary of Jesus’ life, ". . . healing ALL that were oppressed of the devil." The only qualification required to receive this help is NEED. Jesus always bad compassion when He saw the needs of people: Matthew 9:36;10:1 ''But when "But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, on them because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd. Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the laborers are few; Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth laborers into this harvest. And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he give them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of diseases." Matthew 14:14, "And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick." Many such passages in the Gospels show the impartial compassion of Jesus.

Moving Out Of compassion

At times we are unsure about the will of God when it comes to the deliverance of some people, but I have often thought of the compassion most of us feel for an animal in distress and how, without considering the merit of the animal, we are moved to help it if it is within our power to do so. Should our attitude be less sympathetic towards a fellow human being? Certainly, Luke 13:10-16 graphically teaches the lesson that we should deal with humans in need with at least the same compassion we feel for animals, "And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the Sabbath. And, behold, there was a woman which had a spirit of infirmity eighteen years, and was bowed together, and could in no wise lift up herself. And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God. And the ruler of the synagogue answered with indignation, because that Jesus had healed on the Sabbath day, and said unto the people, There are six days in which men ought to work: in them therefore come and be healed, and not on the Sabbath day. The Lord then answered him, and said, Thou hypocrite, doth not each one of you on the Sabbath loose his ox or his ass from the stall, and lead him away to watering? And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan has bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond, on the Sabbath day?" I John 3:17 teaches us that compassion toward those in need is an attribute of God’s love, "But whoso hath this world's goods, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him?"

It should be noted that Jesus felt an immediate urgency in the healing of the woman with the spirit of infirmity. His time for healing was NOW, and so the Apostle Paul wrote in 2 Corinthians 6:2, ''For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation." Remember, in the scriptures "salvation" has the broad connotation of the well being of the whole man: body, soul and spirit. Jesus came to "destroy the works of the devil" I John 3:8, wherever they maybe found. I Timothy 2:1-6, "I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for ALL MEN; For kings, and for all that are in authority; that we may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior; Who will have ALL MEN to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for ALL, to be testified in due time."

Healing Is For All

The salvation and well being of all men is the revealed will of God. Christ died for ALL. It is always the will of God to heal and make whole. If God does not heal immediately it do not change the fact that it is His will to heal. Other factors may be involved, such as the timing in the overall plan and purpose of God.

Many were left without healing by Jesus’ ministry. The lame man at the gate of the temple was left for Peter and John to heal later. While Jesus did not heal everyone, He never refused anyone who came to Him for healing. Sometimes He gave a condition for healing, "Go show thyself to the priest," and at times He required faith ''If you can believe," and "Do you believe I can do this?" but other times He healed all that were sick with no apparent requirements except the willingness to receive deliverance.

Ambassadors Of Healing

Since Christ died for all, Satan has no right to hold anyone in bondage. Christians are Christ's ambassadors, and are given authority over Satan, in order to bring healing and deliverance to all mankind. They must have no doubt that it is God's will to heal (save) ALL and NOW regardless if the results are immediately evident or not, (for the reasons mentioned above). It is Christ in us Who is able. When we are weak, then the power of Christ is best manifested, 2 Corinthians 12:9-10, "And he said unto me, My grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness."

Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, necessities. in persecutions, in distresses for Christ’s sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong."

You and I, as members of Christ's body, have this treasure in our earthen vessel. Christ in us is the hope of glory. His life is the healing and saving power. As we lay hands upon the needy in prayer and faith, we should expect virtue to flow from us as it flowed from His earthly body, Luke 6:19, "And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all. Luke 8:46, "And Jesus said, Somebody hath touched me: for I perceive that virtue is gone out of men." Laying on of hands is more than a point of contact for faith, it is a means of imparting Christ's life where needed. We should expect that flow regardless of the spiritual condition of the one to whom we seek to minister. Christ healed the gentiles as well as those of Israel, and at times He healed when there was little faith in those He healed. Because of the unbelief in the people of Nazareth, His power was limited but His compassion prevailed: Mark 6:5, "And he could there do no mighty work, save that he laid his bands upon a few sick folk, and healed them."

The principle of two and three is well established in scripture. It is the minimum group that can be called the "church" and it has the emphatic promise of Christ's presence. Matthew 18:20, ''For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them." The practical, common sense value of such a configuration is pointed out by the writer of Ecclesiastes in 4:9-12, "Two are better than one; because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, the one will lift up his fellow: but woe to him that is alone when he falleth; for he hath not another to help him up. Again if two lie together, then they have heat: but how can one be warm alone? And if one prevail against him, two shall withstand him; and a threefold cord is not quickly broken." The weaknesses of one can be strengthened by the other. Each receives the mutual benefits of encouragement, comfort and support. These advantages are multiplied when there am three.

Jesus employed this wisdom early in His ministry when He sent out the disciples: Luke 10:1, "After these things the Lord appointed other seventy also, and sent them two and two before his face into every city and place, whither he himself would come." Paul and Barnabas were called of the Holy Spirit as the first apostles. This duo was later split into two teams with Paul, Silas and Barnabas taking Mark. In all of the recorded travels of Paul, it does not seem that he was ever alone. Often he was accompanied by several brethren.

The Power In Agreement

The following well-known prayer promises are made to the plural "you" and "we", seemingly implying more than one are agreeing in the request. Mark 11:24, "Therefore I say unto you, What things whosoever YE desire, when YE pray, believe that YE receive them, and YE shall have them." I John 5:14-15, "And this is the confidence that WE have in him, that, if WE ask any thing according to his will, he heareth US: And if WE know that he hear US, whatsoever WE ask, WE know that WE have the petitions that WE desired of him". Of course, God also answers prayer made by an individual in Jesus’ name, but when two agree, a special guarantee of prayer-power is made by Jesus in Matthew 18:19, "Again I say unto you, That if two of you shall agree on earth as touching any thing that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father which is in heaven." In agreement there is repetition: two or three say and do the same thing, each prayer, each act is repeated two or three times. Successful prayer must be according to the will of God. Where one fails, another may succeed.

I believe it is time for those of us who claim the indwelling Christ to manifest His Presence to the world by reaching out to those in the world who need physical, emotional and spiritual salvation. God receives glory through such demonstrations of His love and power. We need each other to do this, therefore, we should take the promises for the two and three seriously and form, let’s call it, a HEALING CIRCLE. Find one or two other Christians who will agree with you to ACT, and go to those who are in need. I believe it would be best for married couples to be counted as one, thus a husband and wife should join with at least one other to form a team. My reason for this is that sometimes one or the other tends to be passive in a married couple, and so they tend to act as one, therefore another person insures another dimension. I hasten to add that this is just a suggestion and not a rule. As you are alert to needs, God will lead you to those He would have you minister to. It does not matter if the one in need is a Christian or not, if he is willing to receive help. But there surely is no more effective way to help one to become a Christian than to demonstrate the love of God for them in this way, so you must always be sensitive to helping them into a personal relationship with God.

Some Practical Suggestions

I present the following procedure, not as inflexible rules, but as a practical outline of action to help you get started within your HEALING CIRCLE: Be alert to the leading of Christ within you as to whom He would have you bless, then trust Him to make a way of contact. Ask the person for permission to pray and minister to them. Do not force yourself upon them respect their dignity and above all, be humble. Be very careful not to "talk down" to them, as from a superior spiritual realm. Having obtained permission, your HEALING CIRCLE of two or three should arrange a convenient and comfortable place to meet. Join hands in a circle with, or all lay hands upon, the one being ministered to, and begin to pray in turn, coming to a unity of agreement for the need. When you have come to agreement in faith and praying, speak the word of faith according to Mark 11:22, "And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith" Notice the emphasis Jesus put upon "speaking what is believed". Do not overlook doing this, it is very important! There is creative power in saying the word. It is a spiritual principle involved with creative acts:

witness the creative work in Genesis and especially the first three verses of John’s gospel where God The Word created all things. All physical manifestations begin in the realm of the spirit. As you minister, let your faith focus upon Christ in you and be sensitive to His leading, for you are acting as Jesus Christ in this situation. DO NOT FOCUS ON THE NEED OR PROBLEM. It is important that you focus on Christ in you. He is greater than the need.

Perseverance In Blessing

Do not feel that you may or must do this only once. There is nothing wrong with repeating this ministry as often as necessary. People go to doctors for years, taking treatments; why not pray blessing upon someone repeatedly? Remember, even Jesus sometimes touched twice to heal: Mark 8:23-25, "And he took the blind man by the hand, and led him out of the town; and when he had spit on his eyes, and put his hands upon him, he asked him if he saw ought. And he looked up, and said, I see men as trees, walking. After that he put his hands again upon his eyes, and made him look up: and he was restored, and saw every man clearly." Therefore, do not allow yourself to become discouraged if you do not see results immediately, but look to Jesus for a possible word about the matter. Keep at it. Continue to seek and find those who will receive ministry. No doubt, you will have much to learn and you will learn best by doing. Galatians 6:9, "And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not."

The Gospel Of The Kingdom

What we are really speaking about is the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. Jesus said it would be preached in all the world before He comes again. Matthew 24:14, "And this gospel of the Kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations: and then shall the end come." Healing and deliverance from Satanic oppression go hand in hand with the preaching of the Kingdom of God. Jesus always put them together in His teaching and commissions, Luke 91-2, "Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. And he sent them to preach the Kingdom of Cod, and to heal the sick." Luke 10:8-9, "And in whatsoever city ye enter, and they receive you. eat such things as are set before you: And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, the Kingdom of God is come nigh unto you." If Jesus led His disciples thus while the Spirit of Christ was WITH them, how much more will He lead the same way, those who have the Spirit of Christ WITHIN them? Since Jesus prophesied that the gospel of the Kingdom would be preached again at the end, we must expect a renewal of the healing and deliverance message now if indeed we are nearing the end-times, as most Christians believe.

Imagine the power that would be generated if Christians would begin to ACT upon the truths they confess. Imagine the impact upon society if the HEALING CIRCLE principle would be put into action by the thousands of Christians in this country alone. It would revolutionize our society! Surely it will forever change the lives of those Christians who will participate. The words of faith become a living reality and God becomes a living Presence only for those who dare to take Him at His word and ACT!

Let us dare to follow the spirit of those first disciples who prayed, "And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy hold child Jesus." (Acts 4:29-30).
